Marvels Spider-Man is the latest superhero game and this time its been made by Insomniac Studios and is EXCLUSIVE to the Playstation 4.

I’m gonna have to say that this was my most anticipated game of the year and i have to say, Insomniac have made the best Spidey game since ultimate spider-man.

THE STORY

the writers certainly didn’t hold back when creating this story,everything that could possibly happen to Peter/spider-man happens. The villains are very well written and you find all their motivations believable and you can even relate to some of them.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ON.

The writers did not pull any punches when making this thing, Peter and MJ are broken up, Miles Morales is added into the mix after his dad is killed in an attack and aunt May (and the entire city) is infected with what is known as ”devils breath” that eventually leads to aunt may passing at the end of the game meaning everything peter had excluding MJ is gone and the scene in which she does pass away carries more emotional weight than anything i have seen in a superhero game in a long time and it really shows how much of Peters world is gone.

 

COMBAT

this was my biggest worry for this game. I was worried that it would be a complete carbon copy of the Arkham series and not much else and it turns out i was wrong. The combat in this game is smooth,it feels like every punch does damage and the game throws plenty of enemy variations to keep  it from getting repetitive.  The boss fight s might just be the most disappointing part of the game,they get very repetitive but thankfully having to fight 2 at the same time keeps it from being absolutely awful.

SOUNDTRACK

This was the most surprising thing about the game,from the main theme to just the music that often plays whilst you’re just swinging round NYC,it’s by far one of the most memorable soundtracks in anything superhero related.

OTHER GAMEPLAY ASPECTS.

Other than Peter Mj and Miles Morales are playable in steal segments and easily the best is the Rhino segment whilst playing as Miles,it kept the game fresh and allowed for some variety.

VERDICT

Spider-man PS4 is not only one of the greatest superhero games of all time,it’s by far the best Spider-Man  game since ultimate on the PS2 and is worth every single penny of it’s price,with a memorable soundtrack,absolutely incredible voice acting and amazing web swinging,this is a game that you will remember for years to come and for that it gets a solid 9/10.

Venom starring Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed has been getting slashed apart by critics but is clearly loved by fans,me being both of those things it was hard to form a definitive opinion but I finally managed to.

This is currently being torn apart and I don’t see why.Its true to the venom character and Tom Hardy kills it as Eddie/Venom…sadly the same cannot be said for Riz Ahmed’s Carlton Drake/Riot,he is your generic billionaire villain with a motive that he believes will save the planet.

My Main problem with the movie Is that it’s been what I call “AVP’d”. It’s a  movie that’s meant to be Rated R but has been scaled down to a PG-13 meaning every violent act is cut off before we the audience can see anything. If the future of this franchise involves Carnage then it will NEED To be an R rated series.  But I digress,Venom has some funny moments even if sometimes it’s unintentional and stupid at times.

The relationship between Eddie Brock and the Venom Symbiote is by far the highlight of the movie and is also the most memorable part of the movie due to the action scenes being cut down for that PG-13 rating.

nevertheless Venom is a fun ride for casual audiences and fans that packs a seriously toned down Punch and for that it gets a 7/10

Its well known known in the Star Wars community that Star Wars theory,a popular YouTube channel is making a big fan series about Darth Vader. I had the honour of speaking with Catherine Lasalle who will be playing Padme Amidala.

Q.what thoughts rushed through your head when you found out you had been cast in the film?

A.Oh I was FREAKING OUT!! I was running around my house jumping up and down and dancing like a crazy person, it was just pure excitement, but at the same time I knew that I was about to take on something that was very serious, because we all know the fans want this to be good.

Q. What Was it like meeting the members of the cast and being able to work with them?

A.The rest of the cast is AMAZING!! They are all so incredibly kind, we spent such a short amount of time together, but I feel like we clicked instantly. By the end of the day I already felt so much closer to them and could barely pull myself away from the set when it was time to leave. It was so incredible seeing everyone in costume, it just made it feel so much more real, and our mutual love for Star Wars was definitely evident!!
Q. Final question although it’s a rather basic one,what is your favourite Star Wars movie?

A. Ahhh I love Attack of the Clones honestly, that and the Phantom Menace, it surprises a lot of people when I say that one.

they said they were gonna keep tings like Deadpool R rated however it appears the *censored* could have been lying. This is clearly a money grabbing scheme however this * censored* could go two different ways

In 2001 a small unknown studio known as Bungie made a game that would change the first person genre forever.

No one knew If this game would be incredible or a flop.It became a system seller,pushing the Xbox reputation through the roof.

The game is centered around The Master Chief and his AI Cortana stopping an Alien race known as the covenant and the parasitic entity known as The Flood from destroying the universe with something known as The Halo Ring.

gameplay.     This game was revolutionary at the time despite the fact that it wasn’t the very first FPS ever made. The level design was like nothing we’d ever seen before with huge open levels (for an FPS) and has many weapons placed across the map making exploration rewarding.

although I only have 1 negative about this game before I give my rating I feel like I still need to say it and it’s that it gets a little repetitive in certain areas mostly in the mission “the library” (I think it’s called that)

but apart from that Halo Combat Evolved is a kick ass game with an amazing story,incredible and iconic characters and outstanding gameplay and for that it gets a solid 9/10

Released in 2009 Batman Arkham Asylum is the first out of for acclaimed titles in Rocksteadys Batman Arkham Series.

The game was written by Paul Dini and even starred Batman The Animated series actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill voicing Batman and Joker which to many are the definitive voices of the characters.

Story:the game starts with Batman bringing the Joker back to Arkham Asylum only for him to break loose and release many of Batmans worst enemies including Bane,Poison Ivy and even Scarecrow which makes for some incredible level design. The scarecrow parts in particular are incredible.

Gameplay. Ever since this game was released so many games have tried to copy it,most notably the combat,games that are guilty of this include BOTH Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 from 2012 and 2014.The combat felt fresh and made you feel like you are The Dark Knight And this goes for the stealth gameplay which consists of slowly sneaking up on inmates and taking them out one by one as the remaining inmates get More and more paranoid as the sections go on. You also have a wide Variety of takedowns to perform, my favourite of which is the inverted takedown in which you swoop in and hang an inmate from a vantage point. The gadgets such as the sonic Batarang help take enemies down by shocking them and you really do feel like THE batman

The Negatives. the only massively problem I have with this game is that all the thugs look exactly the same and there’s little to no variety making the game seem a little repetitive in certain areas. The killer Croc section is pretty meh and also tense as fuck but if there was an option to skip it I would

If you are new to the batman character or you want to play an incredible action game then this Is for you and may covert you into a batman superfan like it did with me. Arkham Asylum Is one of the best games out there right now and worth every penny,which makes it a solid 9.8/10!

Ubisoft CEO Has said ”we are not going to have a fully fledged Assassins Creed Game next year” Apparently this is so they can focus all efforts on making more content for the upcoming Assassins Creed Odyssey.

One might say this is similar to what happened in 2016 as Ubi took that year off to focus their efforts on Origins and that payed off. The reason they focused more on origins however was because of the utter disaster that was AC Unity (on release) and because of the low sales of AC Syndicate.

One thing to take into consideration is that Ubisofts CEO said we won’t get a ”fully fledged Assassins Creed next year meaning we may get another mediocre remaster like this years Assassins Creed Rogue Remastered most likely AC 1 or AC III. Content for Odyssey will continue throughout 2019 to keep a few players coming back.

10. Starting off this list as my least favourite game in the series is Assassins Creed Syndicate from 2015. This game was just a complete mockery of the franchise and went too far into the future (1868) and for some reason decided to make 1 of the 2 playable characters a complete and utter joke. When fans said we wanted a less serious emo character we didn’t mean give us a complete clown.The story is average with forgettable characters and ridiculous out of place gadgets which made the gameplay seem more like an Arkham rip off than ever before. ACS gets a 4\10

9. Next up is Assassins Creed Rogue. The pure definition of a mixed bag. Unlike every other game before this game let us see this from a Templar perspective and gave us a somewhat likeable character in Shay Cormac. However gameplay was nearly a 100% carbon copy of the previous years AC4 Black Flag. ”Boss fights” were also disappointing as when the time comes to face your old assassin allies you expext a challenge but they die just as easy as the normal NPC’s in other missions. The story is a little more memorable than Syndicates but not by much and the gameplay holds it back from feeling fresh combat wise. ACR gets a 5.9/10

8. I decided at the last minute to swap these next to games around, at the number 8 spot is Assassins Creed III. Lets get straight to the point. This game picks up seconds after Revelations ended and with the fate of the world tilting back and forth,Desmond must descend into the life of two more ancestors Haytham and Connor Kenway. Gameplay had changed a great deal in AC III mimicking Arkham City would came out the year before,naval combat had been added for the first time and was fresh but annoying and bland in some places. Connor is completely boring and has little to no emotion. The main American setting is bland and just looks hideous. And this game has to have the absolute WORST horse controls I have ever seen! AC 3 gets a few things right like Haytham and combat but unfortunately that does not stop it from being a 6/10

7. Now we have the second AC to come out in 2014,Assassins Creed Unity.

Now i have two ratings of this game,upon release this game needed a 40 GB PATCH FOR ALL THE GLITCHES AND BUGS IT HAD!!! Making it straight up an easy 3/10

But i have played it since then and its actually okay. Graphically it looks pretty damn good and combat (although nearly the same) has been tweaked to be a little more challenging. Story wise you play as Arno Dorian,a young man looking for redemption and to convince his childhood friend/ love interest Elise that HE did not kill her father. Unlike other AC games this one has a very interesting section which I won’t spoil. Paris is pretty accurate (minus some french people having English Accents) and has by far the best customisation in the franchise,letting you mix and match certain types of armour and certain Hidden Blade Gauntlets to help you make your perfect assassin robe and because of the stable state its in ACU gets a solid 7/10

6.At the number 6 spot we have Assassins Creed which came out in 2007 and started this series we know and love. Gameplay was pretty new at the time and had never been done  before. Combat felt fresh and innovative and the parkour system felt amazing for the time. Altair also grows as a character going from a brat who breaks every rule of the Creed to a wise man who knows what he must do even if he knows he does not want to. Now at times this game gets incredibly repetitive because of the main gameplay features that set up certain sections of the game,pickpocket,interrogate,find and kill target,go back to Masyaf and speak to Al Mualim. these things hold the game back but it still to this day gets a 7/10.

5. At the 5th spot we have Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Now do not get me wrong i LOVE this game BUT it is a bit slow in certain places of the story and only the last 3 sequences made me give it the score i’m gonna give it. It continues literally seconds after AC II and it is a worthy sequel to that game. Ezio is much wiser but just as fun as he was in the last game and the new characters are incredible editions to the AC universe like Cesare Borgia and Lucrezia Borgia as well as the return of Rodrigo from AC II. The only real big change gameplay wise is that you can actually recruit assassins and level them up,plus those initiates can die and you will need to recruit more. Overall AC Brotherhood is a worthy sequel to AC2 and it gets a 8/10

4. Assassins Creed Revelations. The final game not only starring Ezio,but also Altair bringing the first two protagonists stories full circle. Now the only reason this game is better in my opinion compared to brotherhood is that i prefer the story and i am a huge fan of Altair. This game also has my favourite AC soundtrack,it has a sense of finality to it as it should,Then we have den defense which just thinking about makes me confused. Gameplay is the same as brotherhood minus a few editions like the hookblade and den defense. Ezio is the wisest he has ever been same goes for Altair and i think it was a pretty nice way to end Ezio’s story…in the games. AC Revelations gets a solid 8.9/10

3. Assassins Creed IV Black Flag. Wow…. as someone who really disliked the naval segments in AC3 you can imagine my disappointment when i heard this was basically pirates of the Caribbean with assassins…BUT i was wrong. AC4 is an outstanding game with an amazing open world,story and characters. Edward who is Connors Grandfather is extremely likeable compared to his grandson and is a character that changes throughout the game. Naval combat is extremely entertaining and your ship can be upgraded heavily and by the end the thing is a 1700 version of a tank being able to take down high level man o wars with ease. Black Flag has a compelling story,amazing naval and a great cast of characters and that easily gets it a 9/10

2. I am aware of the backlash i may get for this next one but number 2 is ironically Assassins Creed 2. This was an absolute incredible follow up to the first game and gives us a very likable main character Ezio Auditore who finds himself on a revenge quest to avenge his father and brothers after their execution. He starts as a smart mouth ladies man who evolves into this wise master assassin who realises what he must do to completely rid the Templars from the world. Gameplay is the same as AC 1 But a few new things are added like poison darts,a hidden gun,and not 1 but 2 hidden blades and new assassination techniques.  The Story is just amazing and adds some new features the keep it fresh but the same ac that we know.my only complaint is that near the end the story can only continue once you collect all the codex pages spread across Italy. AC 2 is the definition of a sequel done perfectly and it easily gets a 9.5/10

 

1.Assassins Creed Origins. This game was completely brand new in pretty much every aspect with breathtaking visuals,a protagonist that’s easily  on par with Ezio and a new combat system that out does anything the series has ever had. In this game you take on the role of Bayek,a Medjay who is taking revenge on the people responsible for his sons death. He is an extremely likeable character with the charisma of Ezio but with the rage of Connor except done way better.He is well voice acted by Abubakar  Salim. Naval also makes a return but its sadly on the AC3 level and not the AC4 level in terms of gameplay. You can also take control of Bayeks wife Aya who is an okay character but spends most of the game away at sea. The game has a more RPG feel in terms of customisation and the okay upgrade system. Origins is a solid comeback after unity and syndicate and it is currently my all time favourite in the series with a 9.9/10.

 

After much speculation Venoms age rating its officially been announced that it is a US PG-13.Many people who wanted an R rating are disappointed fearing the film will cut away when any blood would normally appear
