4.Spiderman far from home.

After the anti climatic Spider-man homecoming I wasn’t really hyped for far from home. And the Awful trailers didn’t help. However I walked out of far from home Incredibly happy. Its not the best Spider-man film but after Endgame it was nice to watch a pretty small scale film.

3.Avengers Endgame.

This was it. This was the huge climatic finale to the 11 year story that thr world has been following. Was it amazing? YES. was it perfect.. Far from it.. Its just little things that put it at number 4. Obviously the Avengers needed to use time travel to get the stones back but it just sorta felt like they were going to previous marvel location to make people go “OMG ITS STAR LORD DANCING IN GOTG 1”. It was the almost perfect finale but with a few glaring issues… Made a lot of fuckin money though.

2.Joker.

Joker was a film that I was pretty hyped to see. All the trailers were great and Joaquin Phoneix looked incredible in the role but.. When I saw the movie I left incredibly disappointed. Mainly cause I went in expecting joker.. And even though we got that it was only for about 20 minutes and I hated the ending scene in the asylum. However the more I thought about it the more I wanted to watch it again and again.

After I finally rewatched it again I manged to figure out what I hated.. The whole subplot with Thomas Wayne. It felt like a very forced and tacked on way to include Anything linked to batman which wasn’t Gotham or Joker.

That being said certain scenes in this movie alone deserve an award, specifically the bathroom dance scene. The music in that fuckin scene is perfect in every way. As a film and from a filmmaking standpoint its absolutely perfect.

1. Rocketman.

Rocketman was a film where after the first trailer I was extremely excited for the film. Wasn’t even an Elton John fan but I really wanted to see this film. And when I did it did not dissapoint in any way shape or form. Taron Egerton needs an Oscar as does this movie. The soundtrack is amazing and it actually serves a purpose of telling the story of Eltons life. Everything from the acting to the outfits is perfect and that’s why Rocketman is my film of the year for 2019.

OK I’ve been meaning to write this for a LONG as fuck time so fuck it. Here it is.

Fuck Disney star wars.. Well… Most of it.

Yes yes you’ve heard the statement about Disney star wars a million times but hear me out.

I still think episode 7 is a really good movie, rogue one is pretty good and has its moments… But after that it all went downhill. 8 was a fucking disaster of a film and pretty much ruined my view of star wars forever. My love for it pretty much died after seeing that film. I still adore the originally trilogy and I find parts of the prequels extremely enjoyable. 7 and rogue one I can happily watch… But i will never watch 8 ever again.

Why? Because its story, characters, social justice bullshit and its clear attempt to be the MCU RUIN it!! If you’ve read my ranking of all 8 saga films you know my thoughts on 8.

But because of 8 I simply cannot be hyped for 9 at all. 9 is gonna be the same shit but with a few great scenes I can tell. Because of 8’s wonky as fuck story and shit this film is gonna be disjointed mess!! I never fucking thought I’d see the day where I wasn’t excited for a star wars film yet.. Here we are.

Jedi:Fallen order

Now into the video game section of my rant. This game looks like a shitty clone of the near perfect force Unleashed 1. Just with shitty, underwhelming combat. Last time I checked lightsabers cut through people like a katana cuts through butter. FIX THIS RESPAWN!

Every single fucking trailer of this game looks underwhelming and boring. What is it with these things that doesn’t seem like star wars? They All feel off, TLJ, fallen order and TROS…. However there is still hope…

The Mandalorian.

THIS on the other hand looks absolutely fucking incredible. It’s different in a good way. We get to see the deepest and worst depths of the galaxy after ROTJ. Plus is being Helmed by Jon Favreau, the man who kicked off the mcu with iron man. All of what we’ve seen so far looks great! From the sets to the CGI to the costumes! It’s a great premise too! Bounty hunter who is an ultra trained badass who is a Mandalorian and looks cooler than Jango and Boba combined. Super excited for this show.

Spider-man is directed by Sam Raimi and Stars Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe, James Franco and Kirsten Dunst. This film is the film that kicked off the super hero craze in my opinion. Sure the MCU is bigger and more popular but this is what started the trend. Spider-man held the record for the biggest opening weekend of any movie at the time.

It was a phenomenon and it kicked off an entire trilogy. And that’s all down to Sam Raimi.

Sam Raimi is a fucking genius when it comes to film making. If you’ve seen his film Evil Dead 2 then you know what I’m talking about. He knows his stuff and that’s why he was the perfect choice for this movie. He’s a huge comic book fan is is passionate about the source material and the characters within it and i guarantee that without him this movie and trilogy wouldn’t have worked one bit. OK I should probably talk about the movie itself now.

The story: This films story is so simple yet it’s done so perfectly. Peter Parker is your average nerdy kid, people bully him, he has one true and best friend, he lives with his aunt and uncle and has a huge crush on a girl. Then he gets spider powers and has to stop the green goblin… That’s it.

But it’s the way Sam Raimi chooses to tell this story that matters. Tobey Maguire is great as Peter Parker and he genuinely seems like this nerd with no friends in sight except for Harry Osborn. As We get to know Peter we are introduced to Harry and and Norman Osborn and right away we see that Norman is very quick to cast Harry aside to talk to Peter which sets up conflict that will grow throughout the trilogy.

It’s After Peter gets bitten that Norman decides to test Oscorps new experiment on himself which turns him into the green Goblin… Kinda. The hero and villain are born on the same night. After Peter wakes up for school we see glimpses of his powers such as his agility, his spidergrip and his webbing. Once he decides to test his grip by climbing the wall in the alley, it really goes for it. Plus the alley being a practical set pulls you right into this scene as he climbs the wall with the tense but exhilarating soundtrack done by Danny Elfman.

After Failing with his first swing Peter returns home and has this Talk with Mary Jane. (more on her and this scene later) they have this incredible heart to heart before she decides to go with Flash in his new car,leaving Peter behind.

When Peter decides to enter the Wrestling competition to win money he has this amazing Talk with uncle Ben that just makes you feel…. Awful inside. The way Peter talks to Ben makes you want the moment to be over because it genuinely is hard to watch… And then we get “With great power comes great responsibility”. No one is ever gonna be able to top this version of the speech… Period.

After Peter wins the fight he refuses to stop the crook that then robs the Place.. The very same person that kills uncle Ben.

Long story short Peter Chases him down by doing his very first successful swing and it is.. So fucking cool. After Peter catches him he sees that it’s the man he could have stopped, had he stopped the man with his power his uncle would still be alive. But he chose to be selfish and let the man go.

After Peter Graduates he remembers the final lesson he was ever Taught by his uncle and… He decides to become Spider-man and protect people. But then he starts getting slandered by the Daily Bugle and then the Green Goblin comes into the mix and begins to become his number 1 problem. Despite the fact that the green goblin wants Spider-man to join him Spider-man still knows that he Is the number 1 threat.

Their next fight is the amazingly filmed burning building scene… Which has the weird moment of the goblin pretending to be a woman but still. Then spiderman gets that scratch on his arm from one of the pumpkin Bomb batarang things which at first the viewer might see as just some simple battle damage and an example of what these things can do. However this bit of Damage is what helps Norman learn Peter his Spider-man which then leads to the attack on aunt may.

When aunt May is in the hospital she mentions that everyone knows how much he loves MJ which quite naturally makes him have his “OH shit” moment. Because he knows the goblin may know about her to.

The final battle is fucking incredible I won’t lie. I know a lot of people prefer the train scene in the 2nd movie but I’ve always preferred this scene and movie in general. Goblin gives Spider-man a choice “let die the woman you love, or suffer the little children”. As green goblin drops both we see the choices reflected in the spider masks lenses. As he catches both he can’t really do much considering he has both the children and MJ as well as the issue of having to deal with the green goblin.

He tells MJ to climb down which nearly fucks up thanks to the goblin and then there’s a scene which definitely meant a lot to Americans at the time. There’s a moment where New Yorkers decide to help Spider-man against the green goblin an this was a great call from Raimi, this film came out the year after 9/11 and there’s just this scene of.. People coming together to fight a huge threat.

Shortly after we get the absolutely insane fight between Peter and Norman. A grenade blows up in front of Peter and then he gets his ass kicked completely. Raimi didn’t hold back during this scene and I respect him for that, it’s not just some watered down fight at all. However all it takes after Spider-man to be at his weakest is for Norman to threaten to kill MJ and then Peter just sort of Snaps. The tables turn and HE gets to beat the shit out of green goblin until the helmet comes off and he sees that its his best friends dad and someone he idolises…. Kind of.

After Norman makes him an offer to be his son Peter acknowledges that his real father is Ben Parker.. And he always will be. And then The Green Goblin gets impaled on his own fucking glider and it is a brutal moment even for this movie. And after all that’s happened, after all that Norman’s done his dying wish…. Is for Peter to not Tell Harry who his father was and what he did.

Peter delivers the body to the Osborn house still in costume and Harry walks in.. And sees Spider-man with his father’s bloodied body.. And assumes he killed him.

Norman’s funeral is held, Harry Swears Spider-man will pay and Peter rejects Mary Jane because its the safer option.. And then after one more triumphant swinging scene…. The movies ends..

The Characters: Every character in this movie is amazing. Let’s Start with Peter. Tobey Maguire is great as Peter Parker but it’s his performance as Spider-man that drags him down. He’s OK but.. There’s something about him as spiderman that doesn’t feel right… However the suit is fucking amazing.

Norman Osborn/ Green goblin: wow what a performance by Willem Dafoe. You can tell that he pours so much love and passion into playing this role you know why? Because he wanted to do it. He wasn’t gonna play him originally but Sam Raimi finally gave in and let him. And you feel it in his performance, he had the costume department remake the suit so he could do most of his stunts. Now yes the suit is a bit cheesy and yes it looks like a demon power ranger but cmon, would you prefer him to wear a green and purple elf suit? Exactly.

Mary Jane. OK back to that scene I mentioned earlier. A lot of people just say she’s a damsel in distress and has no real character and to that I say… Bullshit.

There’s a scene where Peter is talking to her and she asks him what he’s doing after he graduates and he obviously tells her but then she’s too embarrassed at first to tell him her dream… But once she tells him he says he great that is and her face immediately has the reaction of “wait…someone just praised me for that?”. Both flash and Harry don’t understand her, Harry just thinks he Can solve everything with Money and flash is just.. Flash. In this movie in particular in my opinion she’s more than just a damsel in distress and people need to realise that.

J Jonah Jameson: best. Character in any comic book movie. Ever.. As well the best casting choice for a movie ever. JK Simmons NAILS this role, all his lines are 10/10 and even his look is. As Stan Lee would say (RIP). “nuff said”

The soundtrack: Danny Elfmans score is fantastic. It has the Bold, triumphant adventure feel to it and its iconic. From the Main theme to the music in the final swing (Farewell)

This movie is incredible and was was my favourite movie as a kid and sometimes it still is. I prefer it to the 2nd one but how can I not? I grew up with this one more than I did the 2nd it has my favourite marvel villain in.

Spider-man was a big deal to me as a kid and he still is. He’s been my favourite fictional hero for as long as I can remember and this film (plus the 90s animated series) was everything to me as a kid and for that it gets a 9/10. My only problem is that there’s a few bits of Bad CGI here and then but oh well. Hopefully I’m back soon with a review of Spider-man 2 but who knows.

5. Steve Ditko suit.

I’m honestly surprised this suit wasn’t in the first game. The closest we get to it is the Vintage comic book suit and it’d be cool to see this suit in action. It doesn’t even need to be cell shaded like the VCB suit, if anything it’d be more unique and interesting if it WASN’T like that suit.

4.Alex Ross’ 2nd spidey suit.

This was a high demand one in the community for the 1st Game but sadly I never made it into the base game OR any of the DLC. Instead we got things like the Resilient suit, thanks insomniac. It really is baffling that this costume never made it into spiderman PS4 but you never know. Insomniac may put it in the sequel, hell it’s definitely one of the most likely ones to show up.

3.The Amazing Spiderman 2 suit.

As bad as the movie is and it’s tie in video game the suit for the 2nd amazing spiderman movie is absolutely amazing, however this suit will probably never be in the game because we all know that Sony and Andrew Garfield are on bad terms and the last thing they would want insomniac to do is put the suit from the worst Spider-man movie in there. Hopefully it will make an appearance but i won’t hold my breath.

2.Sam Raimi Black suit.

Ok this AND the red raimi suit should be in this game AT LAUNCH however if the red Suit makes it in and the black suit doesn’t imma be pissed. We Already Know venom is gonna be in Spider-man 2 and that most likely means spidey will finally get a black symbiote suit, something that we never got in Spiderman PS4, the closest we got was the Anti Ock suit but that was yellow and black not black and white and was obviously an armoured suit so that Spidey can take on doc ock at the end of the first game. But hopefully the Spiderman 3 black suit makes it into the game.

1.Classic Black suit.

OK THIS is the must have suit for me, either this or the San Raimi Black suit should either be a pre order bonus or the reward for 100% completion. Other than the classic red and blue this is my favourite spiderman suit and I’d kill to see it in the game. The standard black suit will almost certainly be the advanced suit just coloured black and white. But PLEASE insomniac have this costume in the game at launch, not as a suit in some crappy DLC.

5.DOOM slayer and Cyberdemon pop figure,£25. Look, everyone knows What funko Pop figures are now. If you don’t you’ve probably been living under a rock for years. And not surprisingly there is DOOM ones, there’s more than one variation of the slayer and there’s a Cyberdemon one which is about £5 extra making it 15ish. They’re sold separately but can be found on amazon and Ebay.

4. DOOM comic books. For anyone who doesn’t know there actually has been DOOM comics before and you can buy them online. Prices will vary however depending on quality.

3.Gamingheads Doomguy collectible figures. These little guys are replicas of the in game collectibles from DOOM 2016 and even make little theme tune sound effect when you click the button on his chest. They’re to scale with the in game figures and cost about £40 each. There’s The regular Slayer figure, a pink guy variant and the patriotguy variant and they each stand at 9″ tall. These are available at either the Bethesda store or the gamingheads site.

2. Mcfarlane toys Doom Eternal Doom Slayer figure. This is from the guys over at Mcfarlane toys and is up for pre order RIGHT NOW for £30 on the Bethesda store. The figure includes a super shotgun, ejected arm blade and sheathed arm blade and it stands at approximately 7″ tall. Only available photo of product.

Doom eternal is set to drop on the 22nd of November 2019 and I thought I’d share Why it’s my most anticipated game of the year, so much so that I pre ordered the collectors edition which is something I never ever do for games.

I’m not the kind of DOOM fan that grew up playing the original games from the 90s.my introduction to the series was Doom 2016 and i was absolutely blown away and immediately obsessed. I love the 1st 2 and 2016 and doom 3 is OK.

I’ve already reviewed 2016 so I’ll keep this short. Doom 2016 should be the game people look at when they are going to revive a dead series. DOOM 3 came out in 2005 and since then DOOM 4 was in development hell until it was technically cancelled in favor of a reboot. Doom 2016 was damn near perfect,with only 1 or 2 glaring problems and the sequel looks no different. More weapons for the slayer to use, a new look, more glory kills, better boss fights and yes, more enemies and Lore.

Eternal looks like the perfect sequel to 2016. Although the games look different in terms of art style.. Its the same. It’s taken doom 2016 and built on it in nearly every way, at least with what we’ve seen. The Gameplay has somehow had improved from 2016 with new features like Wall climbing and new enemies to rip and tear.

And unlike a certain other Bethesda game that came out last year with a helmet collectors edition, the developers here actually seem like they care about the fans, the series what they’re doing, they’ve even put a lot of thought into the collectors edition and what we the fans want.

And that is why DOOM eternal is my most anticipated game of 2019.

Deadpool is now one of the most famous Marvel Characters ever created, largely because of the Movie Starring Ryan Reynolds from 2016. However before this huge spike in popularity Deadpool actually did get his own Video game in 2013 made by High Moon Studios.

STORY

The story of this game is actually rather simplistic, deadpool goes to collect a contract, the contract dies, deadpool wants revenge. However the game manages to make this plot more interesting by having deadpool do his usual things such as breaking the fourth wall and just having a blast.

However this game (Despite what people think) actually has a bad representation of The Merc with the mouth. While deadpool is a funny character he’s not an idiot or selfish, however the game just makes him that. For Example the only way that cable manages to convince Deadpool to stop Mr Sinister is by telling him that he’s gonna kill a taco lady… WHAT!? Deadpool wouldn’t need that kind of encouragement he’d just go and do it anyway.

However if there’s one thing this story campaign does do… It makes you laugh. This game is actually hilarious in parts, specifically when he keeps calling the CEO of High Moon Studios to complain about the budget.. Even if those jokes get a tad old eventually. And some of the stuff is actually easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention.

There’s even little bios about certain characters such as Cable and Wolverine and they help do fill some people in on their backstory….well except the cable one which is probably the most famous one in the game. The story lasts about 6 hours and can be done in a single day but the game is so bat shit crazy it’s kind of fun to replay. The villains are pure shit except Sinister which the game does acknowledge once in a while, referring to the villains as “D list villains”

GAMEPLAY

Fun… That’s the only way I can describe the combat in this game. The combat is very maniacal and crazy which fits how he fights in the comics. You have 3 Melee weapons, Swords, Daggers and Hammers and 4 firearms, pistols, shotguns, machine guns and even fucking laser guns. Countering is the same as in Assassins creed, hit B or circle to counter an enemy. The only issue with that is that B is the teleport button too. So you’ll try and counter attack but just end up teleporting away instead.

The upgrade System for Deadpool and the weapons is cool and isn’t an absolute nightmare to do, in fact you can probably be fully upgraded by the end of the game which is nice. Over time it just gets to a point where you’re like a tank as you kill enemy after enemy which can be fun but also boring as fuck after a while.

This game actually does get real creative at many points in the story, such as the 8 bit game scenes and the weird Roller-coaster that Death Builds… Yeah

One thing that isn’t creative in this game however is the lazy as fuck boss fights. Arclight, just dodge and shoot and hit, vertigo, shoot ONCE, blockbuster, dodge and hit IS THAT ALL THEY COULD COME UP WITH!?!? And If think that’s bad….. YOU FIGHT THEM AGAIN AT THE END! THE EXACT SAME WAY. And before that you’ve killed about 6 waves of all the enemy types and then after those you have to fight about 8 clones… OF MR SINISTER… and guess what? Dodge…. Shoot…. Hit. Sometimes he will throw you across the arena but it doesn’t damage you much.

And throughout the game they have you kill sinister but then NOPE was just a clone… Which leads to some good jokes at times. And there’s a few sections where you can fly around in a boot or shoot a sentinel arm… But after that it’s just back to the normal gameplay of killing generic guys with sticks and guns.

Soundtrack… Generic… Next!

VERDICT.

As fun as this game is… Its Boss fights are extremely lackluster, the budget jokes and “it’s a video game!” jokes get old and Deadpool can be… Not like Deadpool sometimes but I’d recommend it if you just want a quick hack and slash game to play that’s very VERY brutal. I’m giving Deadpool The Game a 7/10

“Seriously roll credits, We’re done here!”

Batman arkham City is the famous sequel to Arkham asylum and is considered the best superhero game ever made and the best in the franchise. But is it really?

Story. The story of Arkham City Is a wild ride from start to finish, the game immediately pulls you in with the mysterious Hugo Strange and this thing called Protocol 10 which is constantly referenced. This game has way more villains than asylum but some of them are really underused such as Deadshot. The campaign is about 10 hours which is just the right length I think for a game like this.

Batman is once again voiced by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill voices the joker for the ‘Last time’. Other famous voice actors are featured such as troy Baker as Robin and Nolan North as the thugs

As great as this story is I prefer Asylums just a little more and I don’t really know why. I think the idea of Batman being trapped in arkham with his known Villains like Bane and Scarecrow.

Gameplay : right this game improved the gameplay in asylum in every way possible. Not that asylums gameplay is bad but City just improved everything, the gliding, the gadgets, the combat. There’s just more to it in this game. The level design is great and Holy shit this game has the best Bosses by far, Ra’s Al Ghul, Mr Freeze, Clayface and others. Every boss is different and unique, they each require different skills to beat them and that’s why this game has the best Bosses in the series in my opinion. All the predator missions in the game except one(that I’ll get to later) are all way more fun than asylum and this is because the gameplay has been refined more since the 1st game. The gadgets make the stealth sections more fun somehow too.

This game also has Challenges like asylum but they are also done way better, letting you use different characters like Robin and Nightwing and batman has a whole set of Alternate suits to use from his standard arkham suit to the batman beyond suit.

The bad: now this game isn’t perfect and it has some very VERY noticeable flaws but no one ever talks about them. One of which is the fucking Catwoman missions. Now in the original release the Catwoman stuff was optional DLC but here in the return to arkham remaster you can’t skip them at all. They kill the pacing of the story completely. I only really love the 1st mission as her because that’s before the main game starts and it explains how and why two face is holding her hostage.

Speaking of two face… Worst.. Boss in the game. You play as Catwoman and you have to knock him down 3-4 times but here’s the problem, Catwoman obviously is weaker than batman cause she has no armour at all and it takes her longer to get to vantage points because she doesn’t have a grapple gun of any kind. Plus this is one of those bosses with infinite goons that you have to just avoid and most times they stick to two face as he goes on the same shitty path. Not to mention this mission is STRAIGHT AFTER *THAT ENDING*.

You can’t skip it or even switch back to batman you HAVE to play it. BULLSHIT. Also I think Arkham Knight really ruins this games ending and makes it less impactful *SPOILERS *. so joker dies at the end of this game which was extremely ballsy and a great way to end the game… But then in knight he’s basically the main villain again so this ending isn’t as great now that we can just say “eh never mind we’ll see him in Knight” I’ll get to arkham Knight eventually…

Overall this game is a solid fuckin sequel with a great story, improved gameplay, better bosses and a better ending… But i still prefer asylum for some reason. Maybe I’m bias because scarecrow was a key part of Asylum and he is my favourite Batman Villain. But honestly both of these games are masterpieces and I give Batman Arkham City a 9/10.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3. DONT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!!

Stranger things season 3 dropped yesterday and I managed to binge the whole season in a day and it might just be my favourite out of the 3.

But the one thing that really bothered me was that it teases a season 4 after a perfect finale.

In the last episode Hopper sacrafices himself (kinda) because even though he dies Joyce manages to close the gate that the russians were creating. Seemingly after this Eleven is adopted by the buyers family and they move away from Hawkins. We get a bunch of shots of around the house and especially a final one in the living room, Eleven reads a note hopper left, our characters say goodbye… Then it ends….. Or not.

See after that amazing ending and what should have been the last scene of the whole of the show…. They tease season 4! Now I don’t think they’ll just get rid of eleven and the Buyers, but to be honest i actually don’t want a season 4 after the ending of this season, near the end I was like “Yeah this is definitely the last season” but nah

So after the credits there’s a fuckin marvel style credits scene in which two Russians drag a man to a cage downstairs (apparently there’s also an American man in there too and people think it’s hopper when it’s more than likely Bald eagle) and they lock him in this cage…. And a door slowly open and oh it’s just a Demodog….. Wait… No IT’S A DEMOGORGAN! now I don’t think its the same one as the one we saw in season 1 but it is definitely the same species of… Whatever. I’ll say this…. If eleven and the buyers don’t return in season 4..chances are I won’t watch it because the show is at its best when nearly all the key characters are together.

Did I love season 3? Absolutely, perfect ending of a season and what I hoped was the perfect ending for the show, solid 8/10. But I’m reaaally worried about season 4

The next Installment in the Halloween franchise has been officially announced and is set to release On October 16th 2020 and is meant to begin shooting after Labour day 2020 (US).

Jamie Lee Curtis is confirmed to be playing Laurie Strode once again however it hasn’t been confirmed if Judy Greer and Andi Matichak will return as Allyson and Karen Strode. David Gordon Green returned to Write the script but it’s unknown if he will direct once again. Hopefully James Jude Courtney will return as Michael Myers and hopefully they don’t fuck up his design.

John Carpenter will hopefully return to compose the movies soundtrack considering H2018 had the best soundtrack of the entire series. Universal had an unnamed Blumhouse film that was scheduled for October 16th and apparently its Been confirmed as ‘Halloween 2’ which I really fuckin hope isn’t the title. We already have 3 movies called ‘Halloween’, we don’t need 3 movies called ‘Halloween 2’.
