Ranking the Star Wars saga from worst to best.

8: Star Wars episode VIII The Last Jedi.

Honest to god I cannot rewatch this film. I’ve tried several times and I can’t. Why? Well the things Set up in episode 7 go absolutely fucking nowhere,The character of Luke Skywalker is completely ruined and it’s rather sad because I was only 10 when episode 7 was announced and the thing I was most excited about was seeing Luke Again…but no…no.   The humour doesn’t work, it feels like it doesn’t belong, the films boring as shit and the new characters are awful and that throne room fight is so badly choreographed it makes the fight in AOTC watchable! …THE ONLY 2 POSITIVES I HAVE ARE,it’s  shot well and it’s the best shot Star Wars film to date, and the score is absolutely incredible, other than that I’m giving it a 2/10.

7:Star Wars episode II Attack of the clones.

COME AT ME PREQUEL FANBOYS! I hate this movie,it’s poorly written, the acting from Hayden Christensen is absolutely horrific and cringy and I’m tired of people trying to tell me this film is incredible, the CGI Looks like a PS3 game,The script and acting is Awful, even the soundtrack is meh, only 1 memorable track in the whole score. Yes seeing Jedi in a big fuck off arena is cool but again,it’s just a big CGI mess!! Only saving graces in this film are the sound design,Christopher Lee as Count Dooku, and the lack of Jar Jar.oh and the bombs that the slave 1 uses to destroy the asteroids are BADASS.  But that doesn’t save it from a 3/10!

6: Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace.

Now yes I know people hate this film,as in.. THEY HATE THIS FILM,but to be honest I can easily watch this one,yes Jar Jar is annoying and The senate meetings are boring as shit,HOWEVER,the CGI isn’t used as much as it is in AOTC and of course..the best part of this movie…Darth Maul. Now honestly I hate how much he’s been used now but I will always love Darth Maul I can’t help it,he’s got a double bladed lightsaber,he looks like a badass,he Fights like one and he kills Qui Gon so that’s a plus! Not to mention that Duel of the fates is easily one of the best pieces of music to Ever come out of Star Wars,Yes Young Anakin is annoying but cmon, the film ruined the actors life,Darth Maul makes it more watchable as does the music and sets, but again, boring senate meetings and Jar jar binks is just shit so it gets a 5/10 (some may see that as too generous)

5:Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

NOW,this is easily the best of the prequel trilogy, the characters are finally likeable,Hayden Christensens acting skills have improved as has the CGI.  And the soundtrack is absolutely incredible. The final fight with Anakin and Obi-Wan is great even if it does drag on..and we finally get to see Anakin,Become Darth Vader, the way that scene of him on the operating table is done is so good! Mainly because of how it’s happening as Luke and Leia are being born and Padme is dying and at the same time Darth Vader Is being born and Anakin is Dying. Also even though it’s very hard to hear, there’s an audible Heartbeat before the Vader mask goes on..then it stops and starts again once that helmet gets bolted on. After that Anakin is dead and Darth Vader is Born…even if it’s slightly ruined by the infamous “NOOOO!”  Overall Episode III is actually a really good movie I won’t lie,the soundtrack is on point,Jedi get fucked up and…DARTH VADER,my only real huge problem is theres a few terrible CGI moments and once or twice Hayden’s acting does get a little bit shit, but I’m giving it a 7/10!

4: Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens.

This film is a perfect follow up to 6,I don’t care what anyone says I left this film thinking “wow, can’t wait to see where all this new stuff goes!” Honestly I’m a little Bias because I was so,SO hyped for this film! And it mostly delivered! My only real massive problems are: There should have been more Luke, and I wish The full original gang got a chance to reunite on screen one last time. These new characters though are great,John Boyega as Finn is great,Daise Ridley is amazing as Rey ,and of course..Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. He’s no Vader but fuck it,he’ll do!  Right from the get go you see that this dude is immensely powerful and has a clear motive the entire film,FIND LUKE SKYWALKER.  Plus, kick ass helmet and kick ass lightsaber just make him even more intimidating..until the helmet comes off…But despite those characters..Harrison Ford steals it with his final performance as Han Solo. His death still remains my favourite scene in this whole film just because of Harrison and Adams acting!  The soundtrack is great, the practical effects are mindblowing and the set pieces are exactly the same as the effects! And for that it gets an 8/10!

3: Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

If force awakens never got made i’d consider this to be the completely satisfying ending to this franchise. The characters are all done spectacularly, the music is incredible as is all the music in The original trilogy. Luke is an absolute badass and Ian Mcdiarmid kills it as the Emperor! But unfortunately these great things don’t make it perfect . The Ewoks..FUCK EM.  They’re the prime example of something George Lucas created to sell toys and that’s it. You’re trying to tell me that these 3ft bears defeated the emperors “best troops” Really?? Also the blue screen sadly doesn’t hold up anymore. Scenes such as the Speeder bike chase just don’t look as great as they did back then. The whole thing with them Rehashing the Death Star was kinda lazy too,I’ve always had a hard time believing they’d made another functioning Death Star after a few years when the first took about 20. Still,Return of the Jedi wraps up the original trilogy in a satisfying way with everything pretty much coming full circle. The script is great, the soundtrack is great and that final fight with Vader and Luke,WOW. The way Luke just snaps after hearing Vader Threaten to turn Leia to the dark side is so impactful,he comes so close to embracing the dark side and then..he see’s vader has a robotic hand just like him and then he realises that he is slowly becoming Darth Vader. I think by far the best scene in the movie is just minutes after this fight. The Emperor is about to kill Luke With Force Lightning and Luke is begging for Vader to help him,Vader looks at Luke..then at The Emperor..then at Luke, then he just simply lifts the Emperor up and throws him over the edge Of some sort of energy shaft,Vaders final act is one of redemption and I that scene is just perfect. My point is even though Vader has a helmet on you can clearly tell that he is so conflicted about what to do,It’s gold in my opinion,an amazing wrap up to an amazing trilogy and for that it gets an 8/10.

2: Star Wars/Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope.

Ah. Where it all began in 1977! The first time the world was introduced to Star Wars!  And holy shit it’s amazing. I watched this movie when I was around 3 and I distinctly remember begging my uncle to let me stay up to watch Empire Strikes back! We get introduced to all the characters who are all played extremely well, the soundtrack Is incredible (Yh I say that a lot!) it has my favourite piece of Music in movie history that being what’s commonly known now as “the Force suite” the effects..are timeless, they somehow look better than CGI in movies today..wait I know why…because it’s all real..sorta. Obviously David Prowse isn’t swinging around a real lightsaber, but the ships, the vehicles all looks like real life things and that’s down to the miniatures used! The effects are iconic,to the sound of the Jawas all the way up to Darth Vaders breathing. Ben Burt created sounds that instantly became iconic sounds of cinema. The story is amazing, just the idea of this galaxy seems so real and exciting! And I’ve been in love with it ever since  was 3 years old which easily knocks it to a 9.5/10,Pretty much a perfect movie, only real complaint is that it can get just a bit slow in the middle but it really doesn’t last long!

1. Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

Theres only one word I can use to fully describe This film…Masterpiece!   It takes the world and characters from Episode IV and somehow makes them more likeable and more interesting! The soundtrack is at it’s best especially with the inclusion of the Imperal March. Vader is an absolute badass and This movie is probably why he’s my favourite Movie villain,he’s killing officers left and right and doesn’t care. He mocks Luke during their fight and of course he is pretty much the biggest twist in movie history, Vader being Lukes father was absolutely unbelievable at the time and such  a clever twist. And the fight that comes before it is by far my favourite in the franshise. From the way the lights in the room activate at the same time as Vader exhaling, the way He mocks Lukes lack of skill, the way He just pretty much mops the floor with him. It’s all done so perfectly! The set pieces and action scene are at there best here as are the effects such as the AT-AT’s and the Asteroid Field. The characters are absolutely beaten down by the end of this film,Hans in carbonite,Luke’s lost his hand and knows Vader his dad,it’s just such a perfect way to build off of A New Hope and I honestly can’t find any flaws with it. Empire is not just a perfect sequel,it is THE perfect sequel and I can’t help but give it a 10/10!

Alien Isolation Review

IMG_8148.JPG

Alien Isolation…..

This game was an interesting experience for me. Not only do I love the first Alien movie I love the world of Alien altogether. This game is pretty much a direct sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic  “Alien” and has you playing As Amanda Ripley who is  Ellen Ripley’s daughter. We learn that even though this game is over a decade after the 1st Alien,Amanda is still looking for closure on what happened to her mother. As a result she tags along on a mission to retrieve the flight recorder from the Nostromo that’s currently on Sevastopol station as “the company” (Weyland) Need it so they can find out more about the Xenomorph that was aboard Ellen’s ship.

However once you get there the game quickly shows you how everything has pretty much gone to shit aboard Sevastopol station, dead bodies, people who turn hostile immediately and killer androids…oh and there’s an 8 ft tall Alien too.   Overall I had an absolute blast with the Story of This game,it’s fun but it can get mildly frustrating at times which I’ll get into soon.  You actually slowly begin to care about the characters And you’ll start to feel sympathy as the alien ans androids pick people off one by one as the game goes on. I don’t wanna say much else on the story cause it’s better to be surprised in this game.

The Gameplay.     I remember thinking I wasn’t gonna have enough patience for this game at times and I’ll admit,I didn’t but at it’s core the gameplay is near perfect. I’ll start off with the stealth considering that’s the main part of the game after all. From the second the Alien shows up you must make as little noise as possible,I’m not even kidding, you can’t run,you can’t engage in combat. NOTHING. And constantly trying to stay quiet really ups the tension and fear of the game and I’ll be honest…I LOVED IT. This game might just be the most intense game I’ve played,it potentially beats Outlast but that’s a game for another time. The androids, the alien, the humans..all of them are a threat and the alien itself is unstoppable and inescapable.

Gadgets/weapons. I’ll start off with your gadgets.  The Hacking decoder thing was an okay concept but the execution wasn’t done that well at all in my opinion. My issue is how you have to find where the entrance for the hack is for these mini games BUT as the game goes on these small windows get more and more hard to find and because you’re panicking cause of the Xenomorph you often miss the window and lose it which just makes it seem like a chore! Other gadgets are more or less distractions for your enemies, noisemakers and flares will draw an enemy to a certain location and these come in so handy when dealing with the Alien…just be careful not to make too much noise as you escape. The motion tracker makes you aware of the presence of living things and android but it somehow makes the game scarier! Mainly cause the closer something gets the faster it beeps! That was well done and it’s probably my favourite gadget in the game.

Weapons are actually one of the games weaknesses cause if you ask me they make the game less scary. There’s an android coming toward you? Just shoot him once with a bolt gun and he’ll die, shoot any humans once and they die, torch the Alien with the flamethrower and he’ll run away! It just takes all the fear and tension away I think,I wouldn’t remove it by any means but it just ruins the experience slightly. Even the stun baton makes it less frightening! It’s because you have a way of fighting..and winning, the alien may be invincible but you can still make it run for about 30 seconds.

The Alien:  I’m giving the Xenomorph it’s own section cause it deserves it! The build up to when the Alien is fully introduced is PERFECT. You see glimpses of it so you know what to maybe expect (at least if you don’t know what one looks like anyway) and then when it finally shows up it gives you this feeling of “oh shit it’s happening now!”  Plus I think it was an amazing idea to use the drone Xenomorph instead of the warrior breed, from what I’ve seen the drones are taller and they fit the tone of This game waaaay more anyway.  The A.I is extremely well done too! Unlike most monsters in horror games the alien AI is completely different with every encounter,he’s not on a track or nothing he just goes wherever He wants. Making him an instant death also raises the stakes a little,if you’re lucky you can damage him as he lunges for you and He will just run off after he knocks you done His hearing is on point! You should never run under any circumstances cause he will find you and you can’t  outrun him! He’ll find you just by you using the motion sensor too much,or if you hit your wrench of An object, just like how it’s described in the movie it is the “perfect organism”the way he moves just sells it too,the movement is humanoid like but he’s always hunched over and almost looks like he’s slithering, especially that razor tipped tail!! That’s all I wanna say about the Alien itself.

The problems: don’t get me wrong, this is not a perfect game and I’m gonna start with the elephant in the room..the games saving mechanic sucks.  This games auto saves only occur when you reach a new chapter of the story or whenever you go to a new level of Sevastopol. Instead you must look for saving phones scattered throughout the game. Now these aren’t as annoying as I thought they would be but still,I only had one issue with these stations but when that issue did happen I was piiiiiissed. I had to replay an entire half hour of the mission because of this! You’ll probably forget to save at times cause you’ll be busy trying not to die!

BUT…that’s not my biggest problem with game….the biggest problem is all the ridiculous and repetitive  backtracking this game has! It’s okay to backtrack once or twice in a game but after a while it just felt like the devs were just being Lazy! It gets boring and old real fast. Plus when you’re forced to go back to an area you explored an hour ago because the story requires it it can  get rather irritating And will likely make you go “ugh This again really?!” plus with the enemies in the way it may take longer!      Oh and Facehuggers are annoying little bastards too!

Verdict! Alien Isolation is a really good game ,hell it’s probably my second favourite horror game of all time…but those things I mentioned hold it back from being perfect,I’m giving Alien Isolation a solid 7.5 out of 10! And with that I also say you should definitely try it out,ESPECIALLY IF YOU LOVE THE HORROR GENRE LIKE ME! It’s worth the money and maybe even worth a replay or two!

Why the Assassins Creed Movie is a terrible adaptation of the source material.

IMG_7776.JPG

The Assassins Creed movie released in 2016/2017 and stars Michael Fassbender,Marion Cotillard And Jeremy Irons and is an ATTEMPT at adapting the Assassins Creed series into a movie and I’m about to list off a few reason as to why I think this movie Pissed off critics and fans.

1. The Rating. This is probably the 2nd biggest reason why I hate this movie. Every single AC game is rated M for Mature/ 18…but the movie is PG-13/12A meaning very minimal blood which doesn’t really work for a movie about people who use blades hidden in Gauntlets. I have This term called “AVP’d” basically when Alien Vs Predator Came out a lot of fans were annoyed about the fact that it cuts away every time something violent is about to happen, the AC movie suffers this exact issue. It kills the immersion because there’s obviously times in which blood should Be spilling out of people and…there’s nothing.

2. The structure. What do I mean by this? Basically in the games about 95% of the story takes place in the past And the rest is the present day,BUT in the movie this is completely flipped round so that most of the movie is the boring offices of Abstergo industries. NO, people came to see Assassins Killing Templars in the 1500’s.

3. The action scenes. The action in This movie is so choppy and poorly cut together. That’s all I can say about them to be honest.

so does this movie do anything right? Yes actually, I think some of the costumes are actually pretty badass and look like they’re straight from the games…well minus the fact that none of The assassin robes are white. And I think when the movie is showing us What Aguilar was doing centuries ago it gets really interesting..other than that this movie is absolutely awful and it gets a 3/10! Completely unwatchable for the most part. If you want to watch a good Assassins Creed movie, just simply watch Assassins Creed lineage and Assassins Creed Embers, they’re very short answer Lineage looks cheap, but it’s far better than this mess.

Halo 5 guardians review: The most disappointing game I’ve ever played.

Halo 5 is the most disappointing Video game I’ve ever played,Period. But why? Is it the story? The characters? The marketing? The gameplay?

Every single one of those things I just listed is the reason I think Halo  5 was so disappointing and I’m gonna start with what upset me the most after I finished the game…

The Marketing:  It’s a fact that Halo 5’s marketing was a complete lie, showing that Chief had gone rogue and that Agent Locke had to go and either bring Chief home peacefully,or with force,we thought they were Gonna have conflict multiple times and that there was gonna be some huge epic fight but what we got was far from that. The ads completely lied to us and many have speculated why. Some people say Microsoft forces 343 to change the story mid way through development, but didn’t delay the game, others think the marketing team did it just to sell the game. I personally think that 343 knew they’d done such a poor job to the point where they just said “screw it,this story has no strong points or moments, just market the game around Locke and Chiefs conflict!” And as a result everyone was let down,I felt so mislead and I couldn’t help but think about how badass this game could have been, but 343 screwed it all up. The whole idea of Chief going rogue was so interesting yet poorly done, what should have been a huge moment in the story is just Chief saying a Sentence and not returning to Command,it’s anti climatic and lazy.

the story: the story of this game is so poorly written,so poorly thought out  that I wanted to just give up halfway through the game. The plot is basically Chief goes “rogue” to find what he believes is Cortana trying to reach out to him, because of this infinity decides to send agent Locke and fire team Osiris to go and convince Chief and Blue team to return to infinity. My biggest issue here without a doubt is the fact that Cortana is back…and she’s the villain! It pisses on Halo 4’s ending so much because that was by far the most memorable parts of the series let alone Halo 4 itself, but here it’s all undone just to have Cortana again and even then it’s not the one we know and love from halo 1-4. She betrays Chief and plans for some AI uprising or something along those lines. Another thing that stuck out when I played this game is how short it is! The campaign is easily 4 hours at best!!! And of course it’s a cliffhanger ending! Not only is the campaign short,it has these segments when you’re just walking around, talking to people. The worse part is is when you realise that this is MOST of the game! Just walking around listening to pointless NPC’s! Even when there is stuff going on like action scenes..they awful! Take for example the fight with Jul at the start of the game,it’s so poorly choreographed,so ridiculously paced it makes the throne room scene in the last Jedi look like duel of the fates!

oh and remember how in my Halo 4 review I said you have to read all the expanded universe material to know the story? It’s the same for Halo 5 only this time,it’s even worse! Why is Halsey’s arm missing? Read the book.  Who the hell is locke? Watch the short film. Who’s blue team? WATCH THE MINI SERIES, who’s Jul Whatever the hell his name is? PLAY SPARTAN OPS.  As if it wasn’t hard enough for the casual player to understand what was going on in Halo 4! Now it’s worse!

Characters: every.   Single.   Character in this game sucks! Why you ask? I’ll start with Chief. Chief had so much development in Halo 4,yes it was too much to quick, but goddamn was it refreshing,he went from a vessel for the player that never talks,to a guy with actual emotions and motivation. But here he goes back to being an empty vessel again! Why?! All that development from 4 is gone now because people complained that he developed too fast. That’s really all I have to say about Chief…oh and the way he’s written is just poor.

next I’ll go to Locke…um….hmm. There’s nothing to talk about,as in literally nothing to him other than he’s from a short film or something.

Blue team: I’m just gonna say the teams cause it’s just easier to go over. No one in blue team is relevant at all,we know that they know Chief well, how do we know this? Oh well some of you may not cause you DIDN’T WATCH THE SERIES. You feel nothing for these characters, they just give exposition, that’s their role in the game! Tell you shit.  THANKS 343!

fireteam Osiris: they suffer from the same problems as blue team except there’s something that happens near the end of the game where you see all the wasted potential coming through the cracks…the moment I’m talking about is when Tanaka gives this speech about all the adventures they’ve had together as a team, and how great it is to be on the same side….BUT as the player we feel nothing when hearing this because we have no connection to these characters and we haven’t seen or played  segment that comes close to what she’s talking about!!

Gameplay: I may as well start with the positives first. The whole gimmick of your squad coming to your aid to heal you was actually a very neat idea and the execution of it is pretty decent, the only problem I have with it is that’s the AI can be pretty dumb and they don’t get to you in time so as a result you die and have to start back at a checkpoint. Movement feels…fine, aiming down sights was a nice little feature…and that’s it.

the whole Spartan ability thing (ground pound, dash and other shit) is ripped right from a bad cod game and trust and believe when I say,Halo should NEVER feel like COD.  Yes they’re both FPS but Halo has always had a unique feel you know?  And that’s it! Forerunner weapons have slightly been improved too, just thought I’d throw that in.

Soundtrack: Halo 5 easily has the worst OST of the series. I can’t remember a single track from the score of the game, unlike with every other Entry in the series this games soundtrack is bland an uninspired unlike the epic, grand music from  Halo 1-3 and even 4.

This has been a tough review to do cause it’s about 94% negative, and that’s probably cause I finally get to vent the frustration I have towards this disappointing, incoherent, slow, misleading mess of a game.

Halo 5 without a doubt is the worst  game in the franchise, it’s forgetable,it’s boring and like the characters,it’s hollow and for that Halo 5:Guardians easily gets a 3/10! And I seriously hope Halo Infinite fixes the huge issues that this game has.

Halo 4 Review

Halo 4 was a risky game to put out on to the market, how do you make a sequel to the perfect ending of a trilogy? How do you exceed expectations? How do you add to the legacy of the original Halo games?  Let’s find out if 343 managed any of that.

Let me start off by saying I love and hate this game, there’s no other Halo on earth that I have this many mixed feelings about. I’m obviously bias to Halo 3 as it was my first halo game and my favourite halo game, but I’m gonna try and not let my love for this that game affect my feelings towards everything about this one.

1.story.    The story of Halo 4 mainly revolves around Chief and Cortanas relationship which is by far the best aspect of its single player campaign. But the problem is is that it develops it WAY to quickly, yes we had 3 other games with Chief and cortana previously but it feels so rushed and forced in this game. Another thing that bugs fans about this story is that 343 expect you to know everything that happens in the expanded universe which gets worse in halo 5. But at a certain point in the game it feels like 343 just went “sh*t,the casual player currently knows nothing about the forerunners or the Didact and because of that, they won’t care so let’s just throw in a boring, long winded exposition scene with the library which explains why Chief is immune to whatever “. It just seems so lazy and half assed.  It really is just a last ditch effort to help out someone who up to that point knows nothing about the forerunners and even then to people who have played every game and just the games it’s still confusing CAUSE YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOKS! Easily the best thing about the story is Chief and Cortanas relationship cause it’s about the only thing in that makes sense. You feel like her time is running out due to her rampancy and it feels like at any point she’ll just turn bad or die and it’s really the only thing worth caring about.

Characters. Just like the story, the best things character wise is Chief and Cortana,Chief is given more personality and humanity which I actually really like, I don’t hate how he was in the old games but it’s nice for a bit of change this time around.  Cortana practically dying is a unique route for her character cause we see how it affects her and Chief which also adds more to their relationship and both of their characters. Apart from those two and maybe Lasky not one character in this game is memorable…well palmers memorable for being an asshole but still. The Didact is one of the most boring, unoriginal and unthreatening villains I’ve ever seen in a video game, apart from his design being kinda cool (at least when the helmets on) we’re just expected to think he’s some huge threat all of a sudden. There just isn’t much to say about him as opposed to villains like Tartarus and the prophet of truth.

My big issue with Halo 4.

My biggest issue with Halo 4 is one very,VERY big one…it doesn’t feel like Halo,343 completely changed the famous art style and to be completely honest,it sucks. You can’t just change everything about then style of a game series 5 games in! (5 cause of reach) I don’t mind Chiefs new armour but it looks like crap compared to the suits from 1-3. Everything in this game looks more realistic instead of futuristic and it takes away from the feel of Halo and the music and sound design doesn’t help. Now I like the sounds of all the weapons but some of them seem too different, like the shotgun and Magnum. The soundtrack Is good yes but isn’t as epic and adventurous as the music from 1-3 plus it just doesn’t sound like music from a halo Game. Requiem is by far the most boring set piece out of all the halo games,it’s just gray and silver, there’s no variation or colour like in halo 1 and 3 in particular.

gameplay. The gameplay in Halo 4…is fine it’s okay minus the fact that half the guns are not only reskins of the human weapons, they pack no punch!! At all! Weapons like the suppressor and the bolt shot Suck because they feel pointless in terms of damage! The incineration canon is stupidly overpowered and it makes the game too easy! The saw feels somewhat okay and the storm rifle feels the same as the suppressor,in other words..no punch. All of the exciting moments are so linear too just like the whole game! It’s more linear than halo 2 but the difference is Halo 2 has actually stakes and exciting stuff happening during those linear sections!

verdict.  Now I know from this review it seems like I hate this game and I don’t,I love how it expanded on Chief and Cortana and the soundtrack is decent even if it sounds nothing like Halo. The graphics still hold up surprisingly and the ending was actually pretty sad yet amazing, Halo 4 may be completely different as a Halo game but as a game despite its confusing story and it’s half assed explanation it can be a fun time and for that I’m giving it a 7/10.   Next I’m going to be talking about Halo 5…..oh boy.

HALO 3 REVIEW. finishing the fight

Halo 3 is remembered as not only one of the best games in the Halo franchise, its remembered as one of the most hotly anticipated games of all time. SO… did it live up to the expectations of the masses? Lets talk about it…

Story: The story of Halo 3 picks up mere minutes after Halo 2 left off with Chief now falling from space with Johnson finding him presumably dead. This whole story has a sense of finality to it because most of the trailers said “Finish the fight”. You’re finishing what was started all the way back in Halo Combat Evolved and it feels absolutely incredible. My only huge problems with the story is that Cortana is near absent from most of the game, she appears as this little visions on your visor that  annoyingly interrupts gameplay and can get annoying, however when you do find her it feels so satisfying and rewarding after you’ve spent about 85% of the campaign looking for her. One other slight problem is that truths character has been completely changed…and that’s all the issues I have with the story.

Gameplay: the gameplay of Halo 3 is relatively similar to 2 yet it still feels fresh and innovative, with duel weilding and Brute shots returning along with new weapons such as the gravity hammer.  There’s not much about gameplay I can say as it’s too similar to 2 but it’s still amazing and flows well.

Characters: Seeing all these characters together one last time is an absolute joy to witness and it’s absolutely heartbreaking when some of them don’t make it. The best example of this is by far Johnsons death scene, with his final words being “send me out…with a bang” it shows that he’s still that badass Sargent from the first 2 games and that even though he’s about to die he still orders for the send off he’s more than likely always wanted.

soundtrack. Yet again I have to mention the soundtrack for Halo, some of it is actually updated versions of tracks from the first two games and it really gives it a nice nostalgic and climatic feel. I’ve heard some people say that this was just them being lazy but I disagree, it makes it feel like the climatic end to an incredible trilogy of games.

Verdict: Halo 3 to this day is still my all time favourite Halo and my favourite first person shooter, the characters are still amazing and well written, the soundtrack makes it feel grand yet again, and it wraps everything up from the first two in a clever way,a simple way…..you won. Halo 3 gets a 10/10 easily,it’s everything I love from 1&2 all put together in the best way possible.

Halo 2 review (Anniversary edition)

I’ve been on a Halo binge lately so I figured now would be the best time to review ALL the main Halo’s….yes including 5.

Halo 2 picks up not too long after Combat Evolved and is commonly called the best in the series…but Is it really?

story: the story of halo 2 is a direct continuation of 1 which makes the story feel way smoother than expected and gives it a nice feel. I do think out of all the campaigns this one has the most memorable moments such as giving the covenant back their bomb, every moment Johnson is on screen, and of course the times when you play as The Arbiter. Speaking of The Arbiter, these moments were actually a surprise back when the game first came out as no one knew we would be playing as Arbiter in the campaign or even at all for that matter. I feel like these sections with Arbiter can be a bit Jarring at times and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t say “can we go back to Chief now?” Don’t get me wrong I think Arbiters  badass but sometimes his sections can be rather sudden to jump into.  The characters are Phenomenal, from Master Chief all the way to The Gravemind, not one character in this game is forgettable. It’s safe to say to say every Halo fan remembers Tartarus, The Prophets and Mirander Keyes and I put that down to this Game and how it’s characters are presented.

Soundtrack: I can’t talk about a halo game and not mention Martin O Donnels soundtrack, just like in the first Game it’s absolutely mesmerising to hear and I cannot talk about the soundtrack without mentioning “Blow me away” by breaking Benjamin. From what I’ve heard they did the song just for publicity and didn’t get paid a dime for it. Every Track in this game is memorable and I find myself listening to it quite often.

Gameplay: the only real changes I can think of is that you Can use weapons you couldn’t use in combat evolved such as The Fuel Rod canon and the energy sword. It’s still perfect in terms of how the game feels and every attack feels heavy and like it’s done damage.

Negatives: I have very VERY few negatives with Halo 2,the only being how abrupt the Arbiter missions can be sometimes, the ending would have been a kick in the teeth in 2004 cause back then they couldn’t just pop in Halo 3 and continue the story, they had to wait till 2007 for the conclusion to this amazing trilogy…to finish the fight.

verdict is easy it’s a 9/10, the story is incredible, all the characters are memorable and well acted and the soundtrack is just amazing. My next Halo review is obviously Gonna be halo 3…gonna have to keep calm on that one.

Top 10 moments in Spider-Man PS4

10: The Opening Cutscene. Straight away this game let’s us know that this Is not like anything we have ever experienced on a console in terms of Spider-Man. It immediately throws you into the web swinging and right after that, introduces Yuri Watanabe as a key character,it sets up the rest of the the game very well and for that,it’s number 10.

9. Getting the advanced suit. Even though it happens early on this feels like it takes forever to happen, but however when you do finally get the advanced suit you fully feel like you are in insomniacs spiderverse.

8. Bank fight with a Shocker. This was a moment I was highly anticipating as shocker is one of my favourite Spider-man villains and this was way better than the chase from earlier in the game, plus it has some comedic elements with both Spider-Man and shocker.

7. City hall attack.  This is where I believe the game gets fully started as We’ve met every key character excluding the sinister 6. This is also where we get to play a song Miles Morales for the first time and it’s actually a welcome breath of fresh air from swinging and kicking. Not to mention it shows us something new, unlike before where miles tried to mimick Peter/Spiderman in the comics, this time he wants to be like his dad who is his true hero.

6. Silver Sable saves Spiderman/ Otto nearly kills Spiderman. Near the end of the game Otto ends up beating Peter almost to death to the GR-27 antiserum and to stop him from exacting his revenge against Norman Osborn. Shortly after this Silver sable rushes in and takes you to the feast shelter to quickly be saved before he potentially dies, which leads into my next moment..

5. The creation of the anti-Ock suit. This Is one of those moments in a game where you go ” This is it!!”  The way in which the main theme  by John  Paesno catches up to the reveal of the suit makes it even more badass and empowering.

4.  Stan Lee’s cameo.  This was one that I didn’t expect so early and it just simply made me Fanboy And grin from ear to ear. RIP Stan, you absolute legend of a human being.

3. Miles reveals he has super powers to Peter. This moment only makes its way in here because of the mistake Peter makes in terms of realising what miles means, the music yet again is perfect for this scene and not to mention that Peter doesn’t tell Miles he’s Spiderman,he shows him and comforts him saying how it’s not weird to Peter that Miles is clinging to the ceiling.

2.  Aunt Mays death.  Here’s a moment that I did not expect. It’s  a moment that’s not only is foreshadowed in the final boss, but is foreshadowed early on. The touching final talk that May and Peter about how proud she is is one that will probably need you to get some tissue.

1. The final showdown with Otto Octavius. WOW,  I know this Is technically cheating but …screw it. The entire game you formed such a connection with Otto so that when the boss does come, you don’t wanna fight him until he reveals that he knew Peter was Spiderman therefore revealing that he knows what he’s doing to Aunt May. You feel enraged at Otto just like Peter and that final showdown on the side of Oscorp,is perfect. The music and what the Peter says as he’s trying to beat someone who used to be his idol. Otto teaches Peter one last lesson about responsibility and choice and just when you think this fight couldn’t get more emotional…it does, with Otto begging Peter not to let them lock him up but Peter just leaves him there, not caring that Otto knows who he really is…..

The Last Of Us. Game Review

Yes I understand that I’m years late on a game like this, haven’t own a PS4 till now so….

The Last Of Us is yet another entry in the zombie apocalypse genre of gaming, This time it feels more like a 28 days later over a zombie game.

STORY

The story of the Last Of Us follows Joel, a man who has been part of the apocalypse since it all started 22 years ago. Him and his friend Tess then have to smuggle a girl known as Ellie to the fireflies as they believe she is the cure to infection and just like that…we have an absolutely incredible experience.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay in the last of us is different to anything I’ve played in recent years, usually mandatory crafting in games is something I utterly despise…but here it felt different somehow. Stealth mechanics are light years better than I imagined it would be, there’s a particular section which involves a sniper and trust me, you’ll know what I’m talking about when it happens. Even the melee attacks are fun to do every once in a while.  SO…I cannot review the Last Of us without talking about The Clickers, possibly the scariest part of this game, you make a noise that’s a little too loud,RUN.   Also Joel has this little ability that allows him to see enemies through walls and it’s a lot like the detective mode from the Arkham Franchise. There’s also small sections where you get to play as Ellie, the games second playable protagonist. The mission is a sudden change after spending so much time Playing as Joel, so much so that you feel weaker and more vulnerable than you did at the start of the game but its a welcome change unlike those stealth missions with certain characters in a game like Spider-Man PS4 for example.

IS IT SCARY?

At first it can be, but unfortunately it does the thing I hate most about horror games…it gives you an assortment of weapons to use against the enemies that are supposed to scare you but apart from that it’s one of the most nerve racking games on the market right now. And even with the amount of weapons the game offers you ammo for certain guns is rare and finding them feels incredibly satisfying. But the powerful guns in this game do not take away from some of the most intense moments of the game.

VERDICT

The Last Of Us is an absolutely incredible experience that never gets old through its campaign that can still shock you, it has amazing gameplay, incredible characters and it easily pulls you into its story and makes you care for the characters almost instantly, it is by far the best zombie/ apocalypse game on the market right now and for that it easily gets a 10/10.

Addressing the Spider-Man PS4 Raimi controversy

So if you’ve been keeping up with the news you may have heard that Insomniac still haven’t announced if the 2002 movie suit will be in the game.

And it’s seriously gotten to the point where I can’t help but not only talk about some of the fans that are slandering Insomniac, but just what I think of the suit in general. THE BIG QUESTION. Do I want this suit in the game? Of course I do,the first Spider-man movie is not only my favourite Spider-man movie, but it’s also one of my favourite movies period. But I am okay if we don’t get it…why? Because it’s a suit, from a fictional movie,in a fictional game, based on a fictional comic book and if I’m honest it’s not that big of a deal.

THE “FANS” RESPONSE

It seems like honestly every other day I see a comment or a tweet slandering the developers of the game all because the suit isn’t in this game and honestly…it’s pathetic. The people at Insomniac have crafted an incredible game with some pretty cool suits….most of them anyway and yet..people are being ridiculously cruel to Insomniac games because they haven’t given them one tiny suit out of 28. It’s a SUIT IN A GAME! I am willing to bet that if this suit does make it into the game, people are still gonna complain with the most ridiculous nitpicks about the suit,if it doesn’t make it into the game I’m willing to bet people will get rid of their copies and continue to slander Insomniac and treat them like dirt.

I’m just gonna say this to the people being vile to the devs. Grow up,it’s a suit in a fictional game and you need to stop being so ungrateful to Insomniac because whether the suit is in the game or not, they put so much effort into this game and the other suits Even if some of them are awful, hell I want the classic black suit but I’m not gonna throw abuse at the devs cause my favourite suit isn’t in the game,so grow up and deal with the fact that one suit isn’t gonna be in a game.
